For Dhara, her journey into the world of yoga began at the age of 13 when she accidentally came across a book of asanas in her fathers library. Not knowing the true art, science and philosophy of this ancient wisdom, she innocently kept replicating the asanas in the book secretly in her room. The freedom and joy she felt doing those poses back then led her to dream about teaching Yoga when she grows up to be an old lady. But destiny had plans for her to follow the dreams much sooner than what she had dreamed.
Always a fitness and dance enthusiast, Dhara while pursuing her International Marketing Masters from Strathclyde University in Glasgow kept her passion for fitness alive by running, weight training and kayaking in her university campus. Once back in India she dabbled with corporate jobs for a couple of years before her childhood dream of being a ‘Yoga Therapist’ caught on. She pursued an advanced teachers training course from The Yoga Institute, Santacruz and another Diploma course from the university of Mumbai. A born yogi, she realized that her life was naturally following the philosophy of yoga with her food habits (Vegan) and her belief system (The power to cure, to heal, to lead a balanced, healthy and wholesome life is completely in our hands).
Dhara believes in a holistic approach to yoga that is combined with other healing modalities like Reiki, Fairyology, Angel Therapy and Deep guided hypnotherapy meditations. Her classes follow an intuitive style of Hatha and Vinyasa, which are fun and lively combined with core strengthening ab circuits and intense variations. Her belief is that each individual has the same finish line to go to but their starting lines are unique to each one of them and she endeavors to provide the maximum health and spiritual benefits according to their uniqueness.
Currently I am conducting group Yoga classes at
The Space, Juhu,
Rhythym Divine, Santacruz West
I teach the Ashtanga Vinyasa Primary series asanas well as Traditional Ashtanga Yoga for beginners.
The 4 principles guding the asana practise in Ashatanga Yoga are
Ujjayi Breathing , Vinyasa- Flow between Postures, Drishti- Points of Concentrations, Bandhas
I incorporate all these elements during my class. My teaching style focuses on making the practise of Yoga available to all especially beginners by focussing the practise on specific areas of strengthening extremities, the core, the spine & relaxation asanas.
My vision is to enable my students to transfer their experience from the yoga mat into their day to day life.
I am Priyanka Nair. I live in Mumbai (Bandra). A former cabin attendant with Jet Airways and Indigo, now a certified Ashtanga Yoga Trainer, having done my teachers training courses from The Yoga Institute, Santacruz, Mumbai and Ashtanga Mysore Shala, Mysore and also a certified Pranic Healer. Founder of Priyanka Nair’s Blindfold Yoga, a unique and one of its kind concept in India. First person to introduce this form in india. I do lot of workshops on the same all across Mumbai.
I teach the primary series of Ashtanga. My classes range from teaching beginners to people who are regular practioners.
What to expect– A led class which focuses on mindfulness and breathing. A class comprising of sun salutations, poses from the series, arm balances, inversions, core work, hip opening, back bending and other restorative poses and eventually the class drifts towards pranayama followed by savasana and chanting to close the session.
Being a well experienced yoga trainer, I believe in achieving my student’s peaceful balance of mind through the art of exercise and meditation techniques. I specialize in solving medical issues like depression and also offer services in prenatal and postnatal yoga. I do handle cases like autism, where special kids have special needs. I indulge in both traditional and power yoga routines and prefer females or couples as my students. I adjust my teaching according to the client needs and do not force my rules on them.
I strongly believe that with the help of yoga one can release stress, prevent the onset of any disease and thus lead a happy and a joyous life!
think that my most important responsibility as a yoga trainer is to make sure that people feel better when they leave than when they come in!
